\nEconomics, Geography, History, Literature, Politics, and Religion will
\nbe held from March 24-28, 2025<\/strong>. The Heidelberg Center for American
\nStudies (HCA) invites applications for this annual one-week conference
\nthat provides twenty international Ph.D. students<\/strong> with the opportunity
\nto present and discuss their Ph.D. projects.<\/p>\n
\nrange broadly across the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Papers
\ncan be presented on any subject relating to the study of the United
\nStates of America. We are also accepting applications that focus on the
\nNorth American continent at large, including Canada, Mexico, and the
\nCaribbean. Possible topics include American identity, migration, issues
\nof ethnicity, gender, transatlantic relations, U.S. domestic and foreign
\npolicy, economics, as well as various aspects of American history,
\nliterature, religion, geography, law, musicology, and culture. Proposals
\nshould include a preliminary title and run to no more than 300 words.<\/p>\n
\nresearch project, which will be followed by a 40-minute discussion. The
\npresentations will be arranged into ten panel groups.<\/p>\n
\nthe panel sessions, the Spring Academy aims at creating a pleasant
\ncollegial atmosphere for further scholarly exchange and contact.<\/p>\n
